Save the Date! The highly anticipated “ultra-sporty” electric car, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, will be officially revealed on Monday, March 17, 2025. Expected to have a power output of around 500 hp, the most extreme of the 100% electric Renault 5s is expected to be marketed in a limited edition in terms of the number of units produced.
Just a few more days to wait before discovering, in minute detail, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, which is the radical evolution of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric. The latter, let’s remember, has recently been subject to a recall campaign to address a startup issue. Regarding the model that will be much more powerful than the Alpine A290, we already know that it will be produced in “well over 150 units”, according to Fabrice Cambolive (CEO of the Renault brand). Attention, the 500 hp Renault 5 electric is likely to be aimed at an elite clientele, knowing that its price will be clearly very high. The price of the R5 Turbo 3E might not be revealed on March 17. As for the commercial launch of this R5 Turbo 3E, it is expected to be this summer.
Technically speaking, the most anticipated electric car of the moment will, logically, in terms of its design, be very close to the 2022 show car (pictured below at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance 2022 event). Let’s also recall that this prototype develops 380 hp, which is 120 hp less than the 2025 R5 Turbo 3E. 500 hp is also much more than the 220 hp Alpine A290.
The 100% electric Renault 5 in the small series Turbo 3E sports version is already announced for a power of 500 hp thanks to its 2 rear electric motors. The 100% electric R5 Turbo 3E will thus be a pure propulsion, identical to the 100% thermal model of yesteryear.
Finally, the chassis and body of the 100% electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E are expected to be made of carbon fiber, which is a light, ultra-rigid, but expensive material. This is why the 100% electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E could be priced around €200,000. Another question that arises is whether the Renault Sport label will return on the R5 Turbo 3E? The answer will be on Monday, March 17, 2025.
