Volkswagen has just unveiled one of the most important cars in its history. The Volkswagen ID. Every1 concept car indeed foreshadows the future Volkswagen ID.1 100% electric, announced to be around €20,000. For the car brand, whose name, let’s remember, means “the people’s car”, this will compete with the future Renault Twingo E-Tech electric (2026) and other small 100% electric city cars said to be affordable. The production version of the Volkswagen ID.1 will be marketed in 2027.
Volkswagen was one of the first car manufacturers to go “all in”, perhaps too much, in developing a 100% electric range. However, sales are not meeting expectations for Volkswagen, which plans to relaunch and “create buzz” with the future electric city car Volkswagen ID.1. Let’s admit that the Volkswagen ID. Every1 concept car has no shortage of design assets to appeal to potential buyers of a small city car. Let’s remember that Volkswagen had only shown the front end of its concept car in early February 2025.
With the future 100% electric compact ID.2all, which will be launched in the automotive market in 2026, around €25,000, the Volkswagen ID.1 will be the second model of the new Volkswagen “Electric Urban Car Family”. Two other members of the “Electric Urban Car Family” are expected in the coming years.
As for the compact “inheritor” of the Polo, namely the ID.2all, the Volkswagen ID. Every1 concept car is based on the evolved MEB platform. In terms of dimensions, they are logically “tiny” with 3.88 m in length for the ID. Every1 concept car, the 100% electric “people’s car”, the future Volkswagen ID.1.
In terms of design, the Volkswagen ID. Every1 concept car is quite attractive with its smooth and sleek body. The round optics, like eyes, give a nice sympathy to the German ID. Every1 style study. To this are added a very vertical front end, curves for the wings, and, quite logically, very reduced overhangs.
But what has even more impact are the small daytime running lights at the ends of the front bumper of the electric city car, as they almost form a mouth that accompanies the eyes of the ID. Inside, everything is as nice as the exterior style of the Volkswagen ID. Every1, that is to say, once again, the future Volkswagen ID.1. Simple and with many storage spaces, the cabin of the concept car in question is equipped with a large central touch screen and a small digital instrument panel for the driver. It is noted that the central console can also serve as an armrest for the future ID.1 driver and passenger. With its four side doors, the future ID.1 will “play the practicality card”.
In terms of powertrain, the ID. Every1 concept car is equipped with a brand new 70 kW/95 hp electric motor. The autonomy of this funny but serious little electric car is 250 km. It should be noted that Volkswagen has not communicated information on the battery capacity.
Finally, the future Volkswagen ID.1, which will be very close in design to the ID. Every1 concept car, will be intended for the European automotive market and, therefore, assembled in Europe. In 2026, the production model Volkswagen ID.1 should be revealed in detail.
