It’s an unexpected and, above all, hilarious video that the new Scuderia Ferrari driver has just posted on his Instagram account. The six-time Formula 1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, has made his way—thanks to AI (Artificial Intelligence)—into a scene from the iconic 1986 movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Lewis Hamilton wanted to celebrate his arrival at Ferrari, knowing that the American comedy directed by John Hughes is one of his favorite films. In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, a legendary Ferrari—or rather a replica of the extremely rare Ferrari 250 GT California—appears in scenes that have since become cult. In one of these scenes (no spoilers here), Lewis Hamilton is simply incredible.

As Lewis Hamilton prepares to drive a Scuderia Ferrari single-seater for the first time during the Australian GP, the opening round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, he has donned the “uniform”—or rather the parking attendant’s outfit—from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The video, shared on Instagram, can be watched by clicking on “Play” below. If the video doesn’t appear on your smartphone, tablet, or computer’s web browser, we invite you to visit Lewis Hamilton’s official Instagram account to watch it.

On Instagram, Lewis Hamilton shared this video alongside a personal message : “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has been one of my favourite movies since I was a kid. This is to pay homage to the iconic film and to celebrate my first season with Ferrari. It definitely took a lot of cutting edge tech, production and planning to get right. Had to get the exact car too … it’s been a dream car since seeing the movie. Shout out to the legendary @edwardnortonofficial for coming along for the ride 😂 This is the energy and excitement I’m bringing to the track this year. ANDIAMO !!”

Regarding the Ferrari 250 GT California featured in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, it’s actually a stunning replica, specifically a Modena GT Spyder California. Only about 100 Ferrari 250 GT Californias were produced between 1957 and 1962, making this Ferrari a model as rare as it is magnificent. For the purposes of filming Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, three Modena GT Spyder California replicas were used.

In Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, well-known American actors and actresses appear, including Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey—the latter especially known for her role in Dirty Dancing (1987).

Finally, after seeing Lewis Hamilton inserted into Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, all that remains is for you to watch the film. Be careful, though—don’t watch it with your middle school or high school kids; it might give them some ideas!
