It’s one of the most anticipated novelties in the electric car domain for the beginning of 2025. “Novelty” in quotes, as it is a deep restyling of the 100% electric SUV Model Y, an international model whose sales are among the best in the world. In China, the Tesla Model Y 2025 can already be ordered. Moreover, the info about the restyled 100% electric American SUV comes from China. In a few months, the Model Y will “land” in Europe.
The restyled Tesla Model Y, or 2025, evolves on all levels. Known under the code name “Juniper”, here it is officially thanks to our friends at Tesla China. In terms of design, the Model Y makes a significant leap forward, while its performance and range improve.
In terms of design, the 100% electric SUV Model Y 2025 always shows very sleek lines typical of Tesla, but more refined. However, the Model Y is now much more modern in this 2025 version. The designers at Tesla have applied high-end design codes, particularly in terms of the front and rear lights. These are thinner and linked by a light strip.
Regarding the front part of the Model Y 2025, it is both more plunging, open, and massive. This contrasts nicely with the thin lights mentioned in the previous paragraph. Let’s admit, from this angle, the Tesla Model Y 2025 is very attractive.
Seen from the side and the rear, the 100% electric SUV Model Y offers a much more dynamic and slender style than the current model, even higher, thanks to a waistline that extends through the marked rear fenders to the hatchback.
As for the rear part, it is visually raised. In short, the Tesla Model Y 2025 is impressive while still keeping its sloping roofline.
Inside the Tesla Model Y 2025, it’s still as simplistic, even more so, and there’s nothing pejorative about it. Among the improvements made to the embedded systems of the 100% electric American SUV, we find new “anti-gravity” seats that incorporate a unique ventilation system. We also notice the removal of the turn signal and wiper controls. That’s not all, because the gear lever has also been removed. The central touchscreen goes from 15 to 15.4″, while at the rear, an 8″ screen is taken from the Tesla Model 3 Highland. Tesla indicates that the soundproofing of the Model Y has been improved thanks to the addition of so-called “acoustic” glass.
Let’s talk about the mechanical and electrical improvements made to the restyled Tesla Model Y, starting with its suspension. The latter has been revised to offer more comfort to the driver and other occupants of the Model Y.
In China, let’s clarify that the Tesla Model Y is offered, optionally, in 2 5-seat configurations, knowing that another 6-seat version will be marketed by the end of the year. Note that the 6-seat Model Y is only for the Chinese car market.
The first version of the 100% electric SUV Model Y is the “Propulsion” (RWD) with a range of 593 km, this in Chinese standard, i.e., in CLTC cycle. This represents a gain of 39 km. In terms of performance, the Tesla Model Y Propulsion is announced for a 0 to 100 km/h achieved in 5.9 seconds, a gain of 1.0 second.
The other more high-end version of the Tesla Model Y, namely the one with four-wheel drive (AWD) and “Long Range” has two electric motors. In the CLTC cycle, the range of the Model Y AWD Long Range is 719 km, an improvement of 31 km. The 0 to 100 km/h gains 0.6 second in this second configuration, reaching 4.3 seconds. For charging, it remains at a maximum power of 250 kW.
Finally, for Europe, patience, because Tesla will say more in the coming days. The 100% electric SUV Model Y 2025 will be produced for Europe, still in Germany, near Berlin. The prices of the Model Y intended for the European car market are therefore not known to date.
