At the Retromobile, if there’s one exhibit to visit, it’s the one celebrating the 70 years of the Citroën DS. In a showcase of light, thanks to exceptional chandeliers, the timeless DS is sublimated.

From DS Automobiles to the Citroën DS, the French sedan has offered its name “Déesse” (DS) to the brand created in 2014. At the Retromobile 2025, several superb DS models are on display for a clearly sumptuous birthday celebration, with the star of this event being the Citroën DS Ballons from 1959.

On a brilliant idea from Claude Puech, this DS highlights the aerodynamic shapes inspired by the field of aeronautics as well as the innovations related to the DS, including, of course, the hydropneumatic suspension.

It was not far from the Retromobile show that the Citroën DS first showed itself to the automotive world in 1955, as part of the Paris Motor Show.

From the DS 19 of 1955 to the ID 19, up to a convertible version owed to Henri Chapron, other versions of the sedan present at the 70th anniversary stand of the Citroën DS celebrate it as it should be.

Let’s admit it, DS Automobiles and the organizers of the Retromobile did things in a big way, and that’s good to offer a unique visitor experience where each element of light will pay tribute to the curves imagined by the designer Flaminio Bertoni.” Below in the photo, the DS 21 from 1972.

The Citroën DS also includes station wagon and family versions, but also commercial versions, not to mention the presidential cars including that of General de Gaulle, the one nicknamed “Super DS” (pictured below at the 2019 Gathering of the Century), given its size and license plate 1-PR-75.

In 20 years of marketing, the Citroën DS was produced in more than 1,450,000 units.

Finally, once again, congratulations to DS Automobiles, which offers Retromobile 2025 visitors a journey back in time in a luminous atmosphere.
