The Brussels Motor Show starts today, January 10, and will close on January 19. Renault takes advantage of the event to unveil the interior of the 100% electric Renault 5. However, it is actually the interior of the Twingo Prototype concept car. Nonetheless, the future Renault Twingo E-Tech electric 2026 production model should incorporate many of these elements.
“Ingenious” or “clever” are the two terms that best define the interior of the Renault Twingo Prototype concept car. This 100% electric Twingo, in its concept-car form, will be presented in its production version by late 2025 or early 2026. Highly anticipated, the future Twingo E-Tech electric or Twingo IV 100% electric is already announced to be priced around 20,000 €, excluding the ecological bonus. This is why the engineers developing its interior must be resourceful.
Photos published by Renault reveal an interior architecture that respects the original 1993 Twingo. It should be noted that in 2023, Renault had partially unveiled the interior of the Twingo Prototype concept car. This time, what we discover is completely different, a sign that this interior is close to that of the future 100% electric Renault Twingo. Very upright and adopting an oblong shape at its ends, the dashboard of the Twingo Prototype interior is almost “floating” above a ribbed structure. Below, we find round control buttons for the air conditioning and the hazard button. The door panels also align with the 1993 Renault Twingo.
As for the central touchscreen, it measures 10″ and is accompanied by a 7″ digital driver instrumentation. The steering wheel and controls of the concept car heralding the 100% electric Twingo are borrowed from the production version of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric.
The interior upholstery of the Twingo is green, matching the prototype’s body color, while the floor is developed in cork, which will, of course, not be part of the production 2026 Renault Twingo 100% electric.
The seats of the Twingo Prototype concept car also reprise the style of the 1993 Twingo. Like the latter, the rear bench is sliding and folds in a 50/50 split.
Let’s get to the ingenious details present in this interior, including magnetic headrest supports for attaching a smartphone, an elastic strap serving as a pocket for a water bottle within easy reach, and a very special adjustment wheel. This same wheel is inspired by skateboard wheels to make a link with the city. A message “Take the lead” is visible on the wheel.
Finally, let’s remember that the future 100% electric Renault Twingo will have the AmpR Small technical platform, borrowed from the Renault 5 E-Tech electric. To maximize savings, Renault Group has chosen a Chinese partner, Shanghai eDrive, to design the motor for the future 100% electric Twingo. The battery for the 100% electric Twingo will also be Chinese, provided by CATL.
