After the Renault 5 E-Tech electric and before the highly anticipated Renault Twingo E-Tech electric, the French automaker is set to launch the new 100% electric Renault 4. Like the R5, the original R4 was one of Renault’s biggest commercial successes, with the Renault 4 being available in several van versions. This is why X-Tomi Design has imagined a future R4 E-Tech electric Van.

No fewer than 8,135,424 Renault 4 cars were assembled by Renault from 1961 to 1992 for the so-called “French” production. The R4 or 4L appealed to fathers, as well as artisans and other businesses that made it their emblematic vehicle. On this point, we mention the Renault 4 Van Darty, just to name one. Indeed, who doesn’t remember the Renault 4 La Poste and Renault 4 EDF? As for the new Renault 4 E-Tech electric, it will not be available in a van version. Below, in photos, are the van-type Renault 4s at the Epoqu’Auto 2021 show where the 60th anniversary of the very popular Renault was celebrated, long before the 100% electric Renault 4 of 2025.

However, the 100% electric Renault 4 of 2025 will be offered in a utility version, with 2 seats, providing a large loading space at the back. The R4 E-Tech electric Van created by X-Tomi Design could, nevertheless, make business owners dream, with a touch of nostalgia.

Revealed in detail at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, the new electric Renault 4 falls into the category of urban SUVs. Let’s recall the different configurations of this modern 100% electric R4. The powertrains of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric are all identical to those of the 100% electric R5, with, at the high end, 150 hp: electric motor (synchronous with wound rotor) 110 kW/150 hp – 245 Nm of torque – lithium-ion battery 52 kWh. In WLTP range, this gives a maximum of 400 km (248 miles). The other electric powertrains that will be offered on the 100% electric R4 develop 90 kW/95 hp and 110 kW/120 hp. In terms of weight, it is reduced for the 100% electric R4: a minimum of 1,410 kg (3,109 lbs). However, the Renault 4 E-Tech electric has, depending on the version, the interesting “Extended Grip” system, an adjustable traction control device with two modes: “Snow” and “All-terrain.”
