In this period of presenting the best wishes for the new year 2025, Thierry Metroz (Senior Vice President – DS Design) takes the opportunity to unveil, on Instagram, the concept car DS SM Tribute in a convertible version. This model links to the Citroën SM Cabriolet prepared in the 70s by the coachbuilder Henri Chapron. Knowing that the teams at DS Automobiles are studying the possibility of marketing the DS SM Tribute in a limited series, why not produce it also in a convertible version?
Unveiled in September 2024, the DS SM Tribute concept car allows DS Automobiles to appropriate the historical heritage of the Citroën brand. What will remain of Citroën in the years to come? The question is posed, but that’s another debate. Presented to the public during the Chantilly Arts and Elegance 2024 event, the DS SM Tribute concept car could, according to information revealed by our colleagues at Top Gear, be marketed in a limited series, powered by a V6 Maserati. Let’s recall that the superb Citroën SM of yesteryear was powered by a V6 Maserati. The photo posted on Instagram by Thierry Metroz could thus be considered a teaser. When will there be a DS SM Tribute Convertible?
Let’s go back in time to honor Henri Chapron. During the 1971 Paris Auto Show, the artist of French-style bodywork presented the Citroën SM Mylord Cabriolet. To date, it is difficult to know how many examples of this luxurious convertible were created. According to the experts at Artcurial Motorcars, there would be fewer than 5. Today, the value of a Citroën SM Mylord Cabriolet is estimated at more than €550,000.
Finally, the latest news from DS Automobiles in recent weeks is the revelation of the DS N°8 SUV. This model will be marketed first as a 100% electric vehicle, and then as a hybrid.
