Announced in 2020 via the DS Aero Sport Lounge concept car, here’s the new electric vehicle from DS Automobiles, the DS N°8. Officially presented as a coupe SUV, it is the most significant new model in recent years for DS Automobiles, a French car manufacturer struggling to “find its clientele” in Europe and beyond, particularly in China. This high-end coupe SUV, the DS N°8, boasts a WLTP range of up to 750 km.
A few days ago, DS Automobiles revealed the first photos of the DS N°8 electric car, along with its range and some other information. With this new coupe SUV, DS Automobiles will offer a multi-energy option as it is based on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, also used for the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008. The Peugeot 408, including the fully electric e-408 version, is based on Stellantis’ E-EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform), which is multi-energy as well. Notably, the STLA Medium is considered an advanced evolution of the EMP2. Initially, the fastback-profile DS N°8 will be sold only as an electric vehicle. DS Automobiles might also release a limited series of the even more exclusive DS SM Tribute.
Standing lower than a traditional SUV with a ground clearance of 15.5 cm, yet higher than a sedan, the DS N°8 is 4.82 m long, 1.90 m wide, and 1.58 m tall. The wheelbase of this coupe SUV, measuring 2.90 m, translates into ample interior space.
In terms of design, the DS N°8 is quite successful, featuring sleek and elongated lines and a very clean look on the sides. This is complemented by a pronounced roofline and distinctive, high-tech elements that are a signature of DS Automobiles. The front end of the DS N°8 coupe SUV sports an illuminated logo and grille bars, known as “DS Luminascreen.” A premium two-tone finish is also featured on the new 100% electric “flagship” of DS Automobiles.
The rear of the French 100% electric coupe SUV is particularly well-designed, with sharp and carved features. The integrated small spoiler on the hatchback greatly contributes to the dynamic visual appeal of the DS N°8. Depending on the model, the DS N°8 can be equipped with 19, 20, or 21-inch wheels.
Inside, the DS N°8 offers a cozy, modern atmosphere, particularly with its very innovative, floating dashboard. This design allows for an ambient light reminiscent of a “5-star hotel room.” A large central touchscreen is paired with digital driver instrumentation. The interior design mirrors the elongated lines and motifs seen on the exterior of the 100% electric coupe SUV.
Two trims, “Pallas” and “Etoile,” along with three interior themes, “DS Pearl Gray and Eternal Blue cloth,” “DS Basalt Black cloth,” and “Alcantara Eternal Blue,” are available for the DS N°8. The cargo volume is 620 liters (under the parcel shelf).
Now, let’s discuss the various technical configurations of the 100% electric DS N°8 coupe SUV. The top-tier all-wheel drive model (with two electric motors) boasts 350 hp, with the weights of the DS N°8 being 2,132 kg (FWD), 2,180 kg (FWD LR), and 2,289 kg (AWD LR) when empty. The batteries come in two versions (74 kWh – 97.2 kWh LR: Long Range). Below are all the technical details of the different DS N°8 variants.
Finally, the new DS Automobiles DS N°8 electric car will be launched as a fully electric vehicle on the European market in May 2025. Later, a micro-hybrid (136 hp) and another PHEV (195 hp) powertrain will be available for the DS N°8 coupe SUV. Let’s conclude with the official presentation video of the 2025 novelty from DS Automobiles.
