At Renault, the new Renault 5 E-Tech electric, Renault 4 E-Tech electric, and don’t forget to mention the future Twingo E-Tech electric 2026. And at Citroën? On the Stellantis side, to date, no popular French car from the past has made a comeback as an electric car, unlike Renault. However, Citroën is reportedly considering, according to the reputable media Autocar, marketing a new 100% electric 2CV with the hypothetical name of ë-2CV.
In the electric car market, small city cars should, in the coming months, “stand out”, knowing that they are more affordable and their range is sufficient for urban travel. Moreover, in the city, it is much easier to charge their battery. Faced with the Renault “revivals” mentioned in the introduction, Citroën offers nothing today. In addition to the ë-C3 100% electric, the brand with the chevrons is therefore studying the possibility of developing a 100% electric Citroën 2CV, still according to Autocar. The “Deudeuche” is the most popular French car in the history of the automobile. Let’s clarify that the 100% electric neo-retro 2CV illustrated in photos in this article was created by the talented designer based in Macedonia, Dejan Hristov.
If there is one element to consider regarding Citroën’s possible desire to relaunch the 2CV in a modern and 100% electric version, it is the fact that the 100% electric Renault 5 is experiencing good commercial success. The sales of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric should continue to progress, as it has just been named, along with the Alpine A290, “Car of the Year 2025”.
The 100% electric Citroën 2CV would be based on the “Smart Car” platform taken from the ë-C3. If the French car manufacturer decides to develop a new battery-powered 2CV, it must not delay. Indeed, many affordable electric city cars are increasingly appearing on the automotive market. The future 100% electric Renault Twingo E-Tech is the best example, as it is announced at around €20,000.
Finally, in 2029, the Citroën 2CV will celebrate its 80th anniversary. Citroën could take advantage of this to launch its new 100% electric 2CV on the automotive market.
