It’s not just a piece of F1 history that’s for sale, but several. Incomparable, as it still belongs, to this day, to Bernie Ecclestone, a collection of F1 cars is for sale. Ecclestone, who, let’s remember, was behind the development of F1 in the 1970s, will part with 69 single-seaters. Enough to turn potential buyers’ heads, even driving them crazy. Here’s everything you need to know about “The Bernie Ecclestone Grand Prix Collection,” which you can discover in the video at the end of this article.
Bernie Ecclestone’s collection of F1 cars takes us back to the 1930s and brings us up to the early 2000s. In the original version, “The Bernie Ecclestone Grand Prix Collection” consists of 69 single-seaters and pre-F1 cars, entrusted to the auction house Tom Hartley Jnr. Now aged 94, Bernie Ecclestone has, over the years, acquired single-seaters whose estimates are not known to date, and the date of the auction is also unknown.
Ferraris galore, including the 375 F1 driven by Alberto Ascari, and the very first F1 single-seater of Scuderia Ferrari, the 312, are part of Bernie Ecclestone’s F1 car collection. Other prancing horse single-seaters driven by world champion drivers like Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher are also part of “The Bernie Ecclestone Grand Prix Collection”.
Here’s how Tom Hartley Jnr presents this collection:
“I feel very privileged that Bernie entrusted the sale of his cars to my company Tom Hartley Jnr. F1 cars are cars that I know particularly well; they are not just cars that interest me personally, but we at Tom Hartley Jnr actively buy and sell them too. However, no collection like this has ever been put up for sale, and no one in the world owns a racing car collection comparable to Bernie’s. It’s an excellent opportunity for a savvy collector to acquire cars that have never been on sale before, and it would be great to see them on the track again.”
Finally, we also note the presence, within Ecclestone’s collection, of the Brabham BT46B from the late ’70s, designed by Gordon Murray. Soon, the complete and detailed list of single-seaters in “The Bernie Ecclestone Grand Prix Collection” will be unveiled, along with the auction date. Let’s conclude, as promised, with the presentation video of the upcoming auction, already historic.
