It had been anticipated for days, even months, by tifosi and Formula 1 enthusiasts. After arriving last Monday in Maranello as a Scuderia Ferrari driver, Lewis Hamilton completed his first laps behind the wheel of a car at “Cavallino Rampante”. It was on the Fiorano circuit that the six-time Formula 1 World Champion made history.

Two test sessions are scheduled in Fiorano for Lewis Hamilton. This morning, the British driver took command of the SF-23 single-seater for around 30 laps, in somewhat tricky conditions due to a wet track. Here’s the video of Hamilton’s very first appearance, in red, driving a Scuderia Ferrari F1 car.

At the end of his run, Lewis Hamilton took the time, with a big smile, to greet the tifosi present in large numbers around the Fiorano circuit.

In the framework of an initial regulated test day (TPC: Testing of Previous Cars), Hamilton took control of the SF-23 (2023). Another red single-seater will be made available to the new Scuderia Ferrari driver, namely the F1-75 (2022). This car will also be driven by Charles Leclerc. This afternoon, the 2024 Monaco GP winner also had the opportunity to complete a few laps at Fiorano, taking over from Lewis Hamilton aboard the SF-23. The organizers of the Formula 1 World Championship immediately shared photos of Lewis Hamilton, on track at Fiorano, on their social media.

At the end of February, both Scuderia Ferrari drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, one of the most high-performing duos in F1 history, will head to Bahrain. In Bahrain, the new Scuderia Ferrari driver will pilot the Ferrari SF-25, as part of the first official pre-season F1 2025 tests, scheduled from February 26 to 28.
