Mark your calendars for Monday, January 20—that’s the day Donald Trump is set to be inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States. While he certainly won’t arrive at the Capitol in an IndyCar, it’s worth reminiscing about the time in 2012 when Mario Andretti, in the TV show “The Apprentice” presented by the future 45th and 47th president of the United States, thrilled Trump with a ride through the streets of New York.

Imagine Emmanuel Macron sitting in the bucket seat of a Formula 1 car driven by Alain Prost, taking the French president for a spin through Paris. Across the Atlantic, long before he first entered the White House, Donald Trump and Mario Andretti offered Americans a memorable TV moment, thanks to NBC and “The Apprentice”. You can watch it by clicking “Play” below, and celebrate Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th president of the United States on our French Facebook page: Donald Trump gets thrilled by Mario Andretti.

As you’ve likely noticed, NBC used special effects to give the illusion that Donald Trump was racing through the streets of New York, thanks to Mario Andretti’s driving. Let’s remember that Andretti was crowned the 1978 Formula 1 World Champion and won U.S. championships four times (USAC: 1965, 1966, 1969 – CART: 1984), the predecessors of today’s IndyCar Series.

Joe Biden

Finally, regarding Donald Trump’s second inauguration as the 45th and 47th president of the United States, he is expected to arrive at the Capitol on January 20 in “The Beast” / “Cadillac One” a bulletproof, ultra-secure Cadillac limousine (pictured above). This initiative began under Barack Obama in 2018, when several specially prepared Cadillac limousines were delivered to the U.S. administration. Joe Biden also used “The Beast” / “Cadillac One” during his travels.
