With the 500e, Fiat has been struggling for months in terms of sales. The small Italian electric car is indeed outpaced by the competition in terms of pricing and range. Announced a few months ago by Stellantis, the Fiat 500 Ibrida with MHEV micro-hybridization should be marketed earlier than expected, namely in autumn 2025.

Remember, following the sharp drop in sales of the Fiat 500e, the management of Stellantis was forced to temporarily close, several times, the Mirafiori factory where the charming electric car is produced. In response, Fiat and Stellantis then announced the arrival of a hybrid version of their popular 500. It will be the Fiat 500 Ibrida. Things seem to be accelerating on the side of the Italian car manufacturer. Indeed, Jean-Philippe Imparato (Chief Operating Officer Enlarged Europe – CEO Stellantis Pro One) has just announced to the media Autocar that “the Fiat 500 offer will be complemented by a hybrid version in November 2025.”

Fiat 500 ibrida

The Fiat 500 Ibrida will be, in a way, an evolution of the 100% electric 500e, as it will be based on the same STLA City platform, knowing that the latter is being modified to integrate a hybrid engine. A 1.2 l 3-cylinder turbo engine should be paired with an “electrified” gearbox (dual-clutch) for the Fiat 500 Ibrida 2025. The small electric motor operating under 48 V MHEV technology will also be integrated into this same gearbox. This MHEV system is well known, as it is already widespread on models from brands belonging to Stellantis.

Finally, facing the future Fiat 500 Ibrida, the competition is already well established, notably with the Hyundai i10 and Suzuki Swift. However, the goodwill generated by the Fiat 500 since always should allow it to sell much more than the electric car Fiat 500e. A matter to follow at the end of 2025…
